01 / PROJECT BACKGROUND

Project Background

Saicomech supplied multiple sets of fully automated metallurgical cranes for a chromium-iron project in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, China. The equipment was developed and manufactured for the customer’s production environment and has now been successfully put into operation. After commissioning, the solution received high recognition from the client for its stability, automation performance, and practical value in daily production.

This project reflects a typical industrial upgrade scenario in the metallurgical materials sector, where customers are moving toward smarter, safer, and greener handling systems. In chromium-iron and manganese-iron production, lifting and material feeding operations are often continuous, heavy-duty, and safety-sensitive. For such applications, ordinary manual or semi-automatic handling methods can no longer fully meet the requirements of efficiency, accuracy, and management consistency.

02 / CUSTOMER NEEDS

Customer Needs and Application Scenario

The customer needed a crane solution that could support automated hook handling, unhooking, and feeding operations in a metallurgical production line. The main expectations were not only to improve loading efficiency, but also to reduce manual intervention, enhance positioning accuracy, and strengthen operational safety.

In this type of project, the key challenge is that material handling is not a simple lifting task. The crane must work in a production environment with strict process rhythm, high material flow, and demanding safety requirements. Any instability, delay, or positioning deviation may affect the upstream and downstream production sequence. Therefore, the customer was looking for an intelligent solution that could help standardize the operation process and support long-term, reliable production.

03 / OUR SOLUTION

Our Solution and Product Features

Saicomech provided multiple sets of fully automated metallurgical crane solutions with intelligent control and production-oriented configuration. The main features included:

  • Remote intelligent centralized control: the crane can automatically complete hook handling, unhooking, feeding, and related actions through a centralized control system.
  • Efficient loading: the system enables fast and accurate grabbing and transferring of materials, shortening feeding time and improving operation efficiency.
  • Precise positioning and anti-sway performance: through a positioning algorithm and anti-sway technology, the crane improves movement stability and placement accuracy during handling.
  • Safe and reliable operation: the equipment is equipped with multiple safety protection functions and real-time status monitoring, supporting full lifecycle operation management.

These features are especially important in metallurgical applications, where process continuity and safety are both critical. The solution was designed not just to lift materials, but to help the customer build a more controlled, more efficient, and more manageable production system.

04 / FINAL RESULTS

Final Results and Value

After project development and production, the equipment was delivered and successfully put into use at the customer site. During the application phase, the system operated in line with the customer’s process expectations, helping improve the automation level of the handling link.

The customer gave positive feedback after operation, confirming that the solution met the site’s production needs and offered practical improvement in both efficiency and operational reliability. This successful implementation also shows that Saicomech’s crane solutions can be adapted to demanding metallurgical scenarios with clear process requirements.

The project delivered several practical benefits:

  1. Higher feeding efficiency through faster and more accurate material handling.
  2. Reduced manual dependence by shifting key actions to intelligent remote control.
  3. Better positioning accuracy thanks to anti-sway and positioning algorithms.
  4. Improved operational safety through multi-layer protection and real-time monitoring.
  5. More stable production management by making the handling process more standardized and controllable.

For the customer, this means a crane system that is not only functional, but also aligned with modern production upgrades in the metallurgical industry. For Saicomech, the project further demonstrates our capability in intelligent crane applications for heavy industrial sectors, especially in high-demand production environments such as ferroalloy and metallurgical materials processing.

This Ulanqab chromium-iron project is a good example of how intelligent metallurgical cranes can improve production efficiency, operation accuracy, and safety at the same time. For customers in similar industries, especially in ferroalloy, metallurgy, and bulk material handling, this case shows that automated crane solutions are not only feasible, but also highly effective when properly matched to the application scenario.
